We are looking for Software Development Manager to empower our development teams to continue to build and maintain the world's best mainframe software development solutions.  This person ensures that the strategic and tactical plans established in conjunction with Product Management are implemented with the highest of quality. Compuware's managers clearly communicate vision, mission and purpose to their employees, inspires their team to constantly pursue excellence and owns the development of their team and employees. 

 

Responsibiliites include: 

  • Establish and maintain a highly capable, motivated and productive software development team
  • Evaluate and coach developers to continually improve their performance as both technologists and employees
  • Communicate cross functionally to align team and company goals
  • Advocate, evangelize, and implement engineering best practices
  • Support change, encourage employees to innovate, evaluate suggestions, and remove obstacles to implementation
  • Create a culture of customer focus and high performance to drive innovation
  • Lead or participate in organization planning, providing leadership and support to ensure that business objectives are met
  • Work with Product Management to determine appropriate quarterly deliverables
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of all deliverables
  • Resolve complex problems independently or through the management of others
  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse

Qualifications

  • Excellent decision-making skills and initiative in solving problems
  • Experience managing software development teams in an agile environment
  • Ability to lead a team of highly skilled individuals, to set priorities and solve problems
  • Strong understanding and experience with the software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated history of coaching and development personnel
  • Obsessed with customers
  • Persuasive and promotes action with ideas and plans
  • Team oriented, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient use of collaboration tools such as issue tracking, wiki’s, Skype, etc.
